    Califano becomes Chairman Emeritus

    Califano becomes Chairman Emeritus of the CASAColumbia Board of Directors. Jeffrey B. Lane is elected to succeed Califano as Chairman of the Board.

    Release of Addiction Medicine

    Release of Addiction Medicine: Closing the Gap between Science and Practice, which reveals that addiction treatment is largely disconnected from mainstream medical practice. The landmark report examines the science of addiction and the profound gap between what we know about the disease and how to prevent and treat it versus current health and medical practice.

    Name change to CASAColumbia® announced in July.

    Family Day – A Day to Eat Dinner with Your ChildrenTM evolves into CASAColumbia Family Day – Be Involved. Stay Involved.® The mission expands to include all types of parental engagement as simple, yet powerful tools to help kids grow up healthy and substance free. The program is currently in its 14th year.

    New President and CEO

    Samuel A. Ball, Ph.D. becomes President and Chief Executive Officer of CASAColumbia.

  • 2015


    CASAColumbia announces a new strategic partnership with Yale School fo Medicine and Public Health. Based in New Haven and led by CASA President and CEO Samuel A. Ball, Ph.D., the center-of excellence connects experts on substance abuse research, public policy and education. The new research and policy initiative supports new and existing faculty positions at Yale in psychiatry and public health, with a focus on neuroscience, clinical trials, health care policy, biostatistics and other areas of medicine.
